Liverpool falls for Jedward twins

Jedward mania hit Liverpool as crowds of people turned up to watch the popular X Factor twins perform at Liverpool Guild of Students (LGoS).

John and Edward Grimes performed to hundreds of people, as they headlined a special Christmas Party held at the LGoS on Mount Pleasant.

Prior to the performance, event promoter Chelsea Holland said: ‘‘We’ve had a lot of interest in it. The VIP meet and greet tickets sold out straight away. It’s going to be a good night, we’ve got KOF, who’s from Liverpool, he’s an up and coming rap artist, we’ve also got some Britain’s Got Talent acts as well to make a surprise appearance and a well known international DJ... but it’s all top secret.’’

The show was scheduled to begin at 7.30pm, with Jedward
making an appearance at around 9pm after the support acts,
with the show finishing at around 10pm. Chelsea added:
‘‘Everyone’s just got Jedward mania.’’

As fans queued in the freezing cold for the doors to open
it was clear John and Edward had a lot of supporters.Two
fans in particular, Steph and Jess, from Liverpool, showed off
their printed hoodies, which read ‘I Love John and Edward’.
They said: ‘‘We want to see John and Edward because
they’re funny and they have cool hair. We didn’t expect to see
so many people here tonight. They’re all like us.’’

Another fan, Jonathon Gregory said: ‘‘They’re very entertaining,
I was gutted when they got voted out. I didn’t expect to see so
many people here though, we got here about an hour ago and
the queue was here and now it’s all the way down the road.’’
 
Standard tickets were priced at £12.50 and VIP meet and greet
tickets were sold for £25. One VIP ticket holder, Heather O’Reilly, said: ‘‘I’m really looking forward to it. I felt a bit sorry for them when they got voted out. I love them.’’

The News of the World revealed that the twins are now earning around £40,000 a gig for performing just three songs, making them second only to this year's winner Joe McEderry in the X Factor finalists' earnings list.
